CAER was created via the Bradford Opportunity Area and is committed to using research to empower schools to provide the best possible education and start in life for their pupils.
CAER is a partnership between the Bradford Institute of Health Research, the Universities of Leeds and Bradford, Leeds Trinity University, the Department for Education, the Local Authority, the Bradford Research School and the Educational Endowment Foundation. CAER is also at the heart of two exciting projects: the healthy learning strand of ActEarly and the healthy schools strand of ARC.
Bradford Teaching School Hub’s core functions support schools and trusts to invest in their workforce to grow, recruit, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders. We will achieve this through a place-based approach to signposting and delivering high-quality progressive teacher development programmes that complement the internal support provided by schools and trusts. Our vision acknowledges that teacher and leadership development are two of the most important forms of school improvement. We will achieve this by enhancing partnership working with schools, trusts and high-quality providers; improving the communication of opportunities with the workforce; introducing new professional learning opportunities; supporting teachers and leaders to make informed choices when selecting continuous professional development (CPD) and support; and ensuring that no school is left behind.
Exceed’s family of schools are all located within the Bradford district and mostly serve communities with some of the highest levels of social and economic challenges in the city. Exceed’s schools are inclusive, community focused, and supportive. Exceed make no excuses for outcomes and a number of their schools have traditionally been some of the highest performing both locally and nationally, with two schools featuring in the Sunday Times list of top 250 state primary schools in the country. Exceed’s Sponsored Academies are being supported on their journey to Outstanding, one of which was recently rated in the top five in Bradford for its amazing KS2 Outcomes.
Dixons Academies Trust are a well-established multi-academy trust of 12 schools serving the communities of Bradford and Leeds. These consist of 6 secondary academies, 3 primaries, 2 all-through academies and a standalone sixth form academy. Soon, they will have two schools in Liverpool and a further two are in the pipeline in Manchester. Their mission is to lead educational improvement in the region through high performing academies which value diversity and maximise student achievement. They ensure that Dixons students have high aspirations and their collective ambition brings about success. Students learn together in well-ordered and happy communities, from all cultures and backgrounds across the cities.
