Opportunity Areas (OA) are ‘Twinning’ with non-OA areas to share best practice and implement initiatives that have proven to work. Braford Opportunity Area has ‘Twinned’ with Knowsley Local Authority to deliver its school to school support programme, which alongside other OA funded school improvement activity has delivered notable successes, with 36 schools of the 62 schools judged RI or inadequate (when the OA plan was published) having improved by at least one Ofsted grade. I
Bradford Teaching School Hub – one of six national Test and Learn phase hubs – are coordinating to school improvement activity, alongside the Bradford Research School who are delivering training to leaders on implementing evidence-based school improvement strategies (i.e. EEF). I
Three primary schools with high levels of disadvantaged pupils have been identified for support and will share close to 100k to deliver improvements in their settings. Bradford system leaders have been matched with the schools to provide insight and challenge on their school improvement plans. The support is being delivered in the 2020/21 academic year.
